Why We Love This Homemade Ranch Dip

What’s not to love about a homemade dip that only takes 5 minutes to make? This Ranch Dip will blow any store bought dressing out of the water. Herby, fresh and creamy and so thick it clings to everything you dip in it.

  • Better ingredients: Because you’re making this at home, you are in charge of what goes in it. No added sugars or preservatives makes it a much better option.
  • Insanely fresh flavor: Using fresh herbs makes the flavor unbeatable to store bought. We love packing more herbs in than even the recipe calls for.
  • Versatile: While fresh herbs are what makes this recipe stand out, you can use dried herbs or a combination of the two. Looking for more protein? Swap out half the mayo for plain greek yogurt!

Ingredients You’ll Need

This is the recipe that will make you start that herb garden. Fresh herbs are what makes this ranch dip so incredibly addicting.

ingredients for making homemade ranch dip
  • Mayonnaise: We like to use full fat, but you can use low fat mayo as well. If you’re looking for more protein you can substitute half the mayonnaise with plain Greek yogurt. (We do this pretty much all the time)
  • Sour Cream: Adds a little tanginess to the dip and cuts through the fat of the mayonnaise.
  • White Vinegar: Just a splash helps to thin our the dip and add another layer of tanginess.
  • Garlic and Onion Powder: For seasoning, we recommend you stick to the seasoning here, frresh garlic and onion overpowered the dip in our opinion.
  • Fresh Chives, Parsley and Dill: These fresh herbs are what make this ranch dip so delicious. Not only do they add flavor but an incredibly delicious texture. You can swap out dried herbs in a pinch.

How To Make

This dip recipe couldn’t be easier to make! Go ahead and make a double batch because we promise it’s not going to last long in the refirgerator.

  • Add all of the ingredients for the dip to a bowl. Whisk together to combine and then taste for seasonings – adjust if needed.
  • Store the dip in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Ways To Use This Ranch Dip

Of course we’re grabbing all the vegetables we can think of to dip into this Ranch. We’re building plates, having simple lunches or snacks and eating more vegetables than we ever have.

  • Vegetables: Any vegetables you like! Broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, cucumbers, radishes, celery – you name it. You can dip it. If you don’t love raw veggies you can steam them first. It’s also delicious tossed in a salad, you can add some milk to thin it out if you prefer.
  • Pretzels/Chips: Any kind of pretzel or pita chips, potato chips (love!) or crackers.
  • Savory foods: Dip your chicken wings or french fries, slice of pizza, onion rings or our favorite eggplant fries.
  • Sandwich Spread: Slather onto your turkey or roast beef sandwich or a crispy chicken sandwich.

Variations

There’s a bunch of different ways that you can customize this dip to your liking, or for what you have on hand. Like we mentioned before, try swapping out plain Greek yogurt for half of the mayonnaise for less calories and more protein. A lot of people will use all Greek yogurt and no mayo, I don’t love the flavor that way, but it’s also an option.

You can swap out dried herbs for the fresh herbs, but the flavor won’t be as fresh tasting. Also, you can omit any of the herbs that you don’t like, dill has a strong flavor so you can try using less if it’s not a favorite of yours.

Try adding the ingredients to a blender with an avocado for an avocado Ranch. More protein and more fiber and absolutely delicious.
