Ingredients You’ll Need

Just a few ingredients (even less if you’re making plain cheese) is all you need to make this delicious pizza recipe. We like to buy a few loaves of bread when it’s fresh, slice it and freeze it so we can pull it out for easy meals.

  • Italian or French Bread: What we’re looking for is a wider, softer loaf. So pick one that you think would make the best base for these pizzas.
  • Pizza Sauce: Store bought, canned or jarred. Marinara sauce works fine too if that’s what you have on hand.
  • Mozzarella Cheese: If you buy a block and shred it yourself it’s going to melt better, but pre-shredded is also fine to use.
  • Parmesan Cheese: Just a couple tablespoons to add more flavor to the top, you can leave it off if you don’t have it.
  • Oregano: You can also use Italian Seasoning, whatever you have in the cabinet.
  • Garlic Powder: Adds a garlicky flavor, can be left off if you don’t have it or want to keep that flavor simple.
  • Mini Pepperoni: Our go to topping, but you don’t have to use it. These pizzas are just as good with just cheese!

How To Make

This pizza comes together so quickly, it’s so much faster than putting frozen pizza in the oven!

  • Classic Pepperoni: with mozzarella and pizza sauce

  • BBQ Chicken: shredded chicken, BBQ sauce, red onion, cheddar
  • Hawaiian: ham, pineapple, mozzarella
  • Margherita: fresh tomatoes, basil, mozzarella, olive oil drizzle
  • Meat Lovers: sausage, bacon, pepperoni, mozzarella

Want An Extra Crispy Crust?

If you want the top of the bread to be extra crispy, place it in the air fryer plain for 1-2 minutes just to toast the bread. The extra toasting will give the sauce a sturdier base so there won’t be any sogginess.

We kind of like the soft bite on top though because the rest of the bread is super crispy, but you can make it however you like.

Scale

Ingredients

  • 10 ounce loaf of French or Italian bread (see note)
  • 3 cups pizza sauce
  • 3 cups mozzarella cheese
  • 3 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 6 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup mini pepperoni (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the loaf of bread in half lengthwise, and then cut the loaf into thirds. You’ll end up with 6 pieces of bread to make 6 pizzas. Note: All air fryers are different sizes, so before cutting the bread make sure each piece will fit in your air fryer.
  2. Spread 1/2 cup of the pizza sauce onto each piece of bread. Our air fryer will only fit 2 pieces of bread at a time, so to prevent the bread from getting soggy you can add the sauce to each piece of bread right before it goes into the air fryer.
  3. Sprinkle each half of bread with 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder and 1/2 teaspoon of oregano.
  4. Add 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese to each piece of bread, followed by 1 tablespoon of parmesan cheese. Top with mini pepperoni if using.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 400 if needed. Place 2 pieces of pizza (or as many as will fit in your air fryer) into the basket of your air fryer and cook for 4-5 minutes.
  6. Continue the cooking process with the remaining pizzas. You can keep the cooked pizza on a platter covered with foil until all the pizza is ready to be served.

Recipe Notes

For the bread, an Italian loaf is typically softer and wider than a French loaf. So for these air fryer pizzas we’re looking for a bit of a wider loaf to hold the toppings. However, you can certainly use whatever kind you find.
