Why We Love This White Castle Stuffing Recipe
There’s so many great stuffing recipes out there, but this White Castle Stuffing is one of our new favorites! We’re using these frozen hamburger sliders as the base for a stuffing recipe that’s going to blow your mind.
- Nostalgic Flavor: Pretty much everyone has had a White Castle burger – so here’s a fun idea for Thanksgiving – set this stuffing out and let everyone guess what the flavor is!
- Surprisingly Delicious: It might sounds weird at first, but the combination totally works. It’s rich, buttery and perfectly seasoned with fresh herbs and vegetables.
- Make Ahead Holiday Recipe: Whether you’re hosting Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving or any holiday party, a make ahead recipe like this one always makes planning easier.
Ingredients You’ll Need
Head to the store and grab a large box of White Castle Sliders! The rest are basic pantry ingredients that you probably already have on hand. For the complete ingredient list with amounts needed, scroll down to the recipe card.

- White Castle Sliders: While some recipes I’ve looked at say that you can grab fresh sliders for this stuffing recipe, I do think that the frozen version is best for texture. We tried making this recipe with fresh sliders and found that it was too mushy for our liking.
- Chicken Stock: Or chicken broth, but grab a variety at the store that has a good, rich flavor.
- Poultry Seasoning: An all in one seasoning that has that nostalgic flavor that reminds us of Thanksgiving.
- Celery: For a nice little crunch and a bit of flavor, a classic stuffing ingredient.
- Onion: We prefer a yellow onion that’s a bit sweeter than other varieties.
- Fresh Thyme: We use fresh herbs in most of our stuffing recipes, but you can also swap out dried in a pinch. Just use 1 teaspoon of dried to a tablespoon of fresh herbs.
- Egg: Another ingredient that we haven’t seen in a lot of other White Castle stuffing recipes, but we do think it helps to hold the stuffing together.
How To Make
Because we’re not having to toast all the bread and brown the meat ahead of time, this White Castle stuffing couldn’t be easier to make!

- Grab frozen White Castle Sliders and let thaw for 10 minutes, just enough so that you can cut them up. Cut the sliders into 9 pieces each (3 cuts one way and then 3 cuts the other way) and place them into a large bowl.

- Cook down onions and celery in a large skillet with butter until softened. Add fresh thyme, salt, pepper and poultry seasoning.

- Pour chicken stock into the skillet, bring to a boil and then turn down to a simmer for 5 minutes. Taste for seasonings at this point to make sure that it’s rich and flavorful.

- Pour the chicken stock mixture over the chopped hamburgers and mix together gently until all of the ingredients are moistened.

- Add the stuffing to an 8″ x 10″ baking dish and top with pats of butter. Cover with foil and bake at 400 degrees for 35 minutes. Remove the foil and bake another 20 minutes until the top of the stuffing is brown.

Tips & Variations
This recipe is fun and flexible! You can make it with what you have on hand, or even set out two different varieties on your Thanksgiving table.
- Use any flavor slider: Do you like a cheesy stuffing? Grab the cheeseburger sliders instead. You can even go so far as to grab the crispy chicken sliders for a chicken stuffing.
- Add extra veggies: Other vegetables like mushrooms, bell peppers or spinach are all delicious in stuffing recipes.
- Make it ahead: Stuffing recipes are excellent make ahead holiday side dishes. Make this stuffing ahead of time, wrap with foil and refrigerate. Remove from the fridge about 30 minutes before popping into the oven.
- Crispy or soft: We like to remove the foil for the last 20 minutes of baking for a crispy top, but if you like your stuffing soft through and through, just leave the foil on.
- Taste for seasonings: After the stock simmers, make sure to taste it to see if the flavors are right for you. You might need a little more salt or pepper, make sure it’s how you like it!

Whether you’re a long-time White Castle fan or you just like trying fun twists on classic recipes, this White Castle Stuffing is sure to bring smiles to your Thanksgiving table. It goes perfectly with your Thanksgiving Turkey, of course, and all your favorite side dishes. And don’t forget to drizzle some turkey gravy on top!

This looks delicious. I am going to make it this year. I was wondering when you put the egg in. I didn’t see it in the recipe.
I think you’re going to love it! It’s step (1), that got cut off somehow, thanks for pointing that out. Should be all set now. Let us know if you like it!
