How To Make
We’ve included step by step photos here, but for complete instructions scroll to the recipe card at the end of the post.

- Cream the butter and sugar: Add the softened butter and sugar to a large bowl and beat until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat until combined.

- Mix dry ingredients: Add the flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon to another bowl and whisk together to combine.

- Combine flour mixture with butter mixture: Add the flour mixture in batches to the butter mixture, beating to combine after each addition until a dough forms.

- Form into balls and bake: Roll the dough into balls a little smaller than a golf ball (about 2 tablespoons) and place onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Flatten the cookies slightly with two fingers, or you can use the bottom on a glass. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes, remove from the oven and let cool.

- Make the icing: Add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon and milk to a bowl. Whisk until combined. Ice the cookies and dust with more cinnamon if desired.

Can You Freeze Meltaway Cookies?
Yes, these cinnamon meltaway cookies freeze perfectly. Place them in a single layer in a freezer bag until frozen, then they can be stacked. Remove as many cookies as you need and let defrost at room temperature. They’ll taste just as good as when they were first baked!
You can also form the dough into balls and freeze before baking. Then place the balls of dough onto a baking sheet and let thaw just enough so you can flatten them a bit. Bake at 350 degrees, adding a minute or two onto the cooking time.
