These Cinnamon Meltaway Cookies literally melt in your mouth! Sweet, soft and cozy with a touch of warm cinnamon flavor. Perfect for your holiday cookie platter or any time you need a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale

For the cookies:

  • 1 cup butter (room temperature)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For the icing:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Add the butter and sugar to a large bowl and beat until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat until combined.
  3. Add the flour, cinnamon, baking powder and salt to another bowl and whisk together to combine.
  4. Add the flour mixture in batches to the butter mixture, beating to combine after each addition until a dough forms.
  5. Roll the dough into balls a little smaller than a golf ball (about 2 tablespoons) and place onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Flatten the cookies slightly with two fingers, or you can use the bottom on a glass. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes, remove from the oven and transfer to a rack and let cool.
  6. Add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon and milk to a bowl. Whisk until combined. Ice the cookies (once they are cooled) and dust with more cinnamon if desired.
