This Crown Royal Apple Envy cocktail is a whiskey drink with a fresh apple flavor! Crown Royal Apple Whisky mixed with real smashed apple!
It was one of those times when you knew you were going to be talking about how much fun it was for a really long time. And considering it’s been three weeks since I’ve gotten back home and yep – I’m still talking about it tell you something.
One of the challenges during the Capture the Crown was to create a drink that was unique to our experience and of course using the Crown Royal Whisky of our choice. To inspire us, they brought us up to the Pagoda Suite with all the Crown Royal Whisky laid out.
There were a few mix-ins that we could use like soda, ginger beer, apples cherries, oranges and limes. Our idea was to muddle a cut up apple with simple syrup, add a few ounces of Crown Royal Regal Apple and then top it off with ginger beer.
Matt Pechman, the brand director of Crown Royal was the judge of the whiskey cocktail recipes. Obviously he’s totally qualified to be a cocktail recipe judge…but he’s also a really nice guy. So I was hoping that my group would be the team to impress him.
And win we did. My group won overall for best taste and appearance, the only thing he didn’t love was our original name of the drink. We called it and Apple Whisky Bellini at the time…but when I got home I worked on recreating the drink…and it’s name.
To call this drink a Crown Royal Apple Envy pretty much says it all. First it’s made with Crown Royal Apple and second, everyone will be envious of you when you’re sipping on this cocktail. No doubt.
As far as flavored whisky goes, I’d have to say that this Canadian apple whisky is one of my favorites.
This is my version that I made at home. I made it, drank it and made some more. It’s delicious, refreshing and strong – just as a whisky drink should be.
For starters this apple whiskey already has notes of crisp apple in it, so adding the fresh apple to it just enhances the flavor of this whiskey cocktail more!
Then when you top it with bubbly ginger beer you’ve got yourself a Fall cocktail worthy of a party. Invite all your friends over for this cocktail, you might even make some new ones because the result is delicious.
A crisp, refreshing apple whisky cocktail with fresh muddled apple, topped with ginger beer.
- 2 thick slices of apple chopped into small pieces
- 1 t. simple syrup
- 2 oz. Crown Royal Regal Apple Whisky
- ginger beer for topping
- apple slices for garnish
- Muddle the chopped apple with the simple syrup.
- In a low-ball glass filled with ice, add the whisky and the muddled apple and stir.
- Top with ginger beer and garnish with apple slices.
