A Low Carb Dinner or Appetizer Recipe!
These shrimp bites look like they came from a restaurant, but they didn’t. You can make these Sesame Shrimp Bites with Lemon Aioli right in your very own kitchen – and in less than 30 minutes. It doesn’t get much better than that!
Even with the panko bread crumb coating, these shrimp appetizers only have about 2 carbs per serving. That’s a low carb recipe I can get down with. Or if you’re serving these for a delicious seafood dinner, all you need to add is a salad or roasted vegetables on the side.
The best thing about this shrimp ball recipe, low carb or not, is definitely the flavor. Fresh shrimp mixed with ginger, garlic and scallions then baked until crispy. Just wait until you try the lemon aioli dipping sauce!
How Do You Make Shrimp Balls?
The filling is easy to put together, everything goes into a food processor and after a couple of pulses you’re good to go. Like I said, just shrimp, scallions, and egg white to bind the shrimp balls together and a few seasonings.
Form the the shrimp balls about the size of a golf ball and then roll around until in a mixture of panko bread crumbs and black sesame seeds until they are completely coated.
Get them in the oven to bake and start making the lemon aioli dipping sauce.
What Is Aioli Anyway???
Aioli is just a fancy word for a kicked up mayonnaise sauce. Just mayo, lemon garlic and dijon, then some salt and pepper to taste and you’re done. Traditional aioli is made with an egg for an emulsifier but we don’t think it’s necessary. Adding dijon mustard helps to hold this sauce together just fine.
If mayonnaise based sauces aren’t your thing, you can also serve these shrimp balls with cocktail sauce or even a warm teriyaki glaze. Or you can use our popular Homemade Stir Fry Sauce!
Can You Make These Shrimp Balls Ahead Of Time?
I hate to say it, but not really. These are best right from the oven but if you have to get them done ahead of time, just make them and keep them in the refrigerator until about 20 minutes before you need them.
Take them out of the refrigerator and get them in the oven but give them an extra few minutes of baking time because they will be chilled from being in the refrigerator.
Whether you are serving these shrimp balls for appetizers or a healthy, low carb dinner recipe I guarantee they are going to be a hit! Forget about that shrimp cocktail platter and make these Sesame Shrimp Bites instead!
