Make a Red White and Blue Mojito for your BBQ’s this weekend! These fun and festive party drinks are going to be a hit with the whole crowd!
In between our kid’s baseball tournaments this weekend we definitely plan on hitting a BBQ or two. It wouldn’t feel like Memorial Day unless we had a delicious hamburger or at least a hot dog or two.
And of course a few cocktails. You can’t forget the drinks…and this Red White and Blue Mojito is going to not only taste amazing but fit right in with your party theme. These Red White and Blue Shooters are another favorite of ours to make this time of year too!
But the truth is, the real fun I had for Memorial Day already happened.
I was invited to go on a boat tour around Manhattan with Smirnoff Vodka. It’s funny sometimes when I get these invites and they say something so cool like this one did…are you available to join us? Well yes, yes I am.
Obviously you can’t make every fun trip, most of them are in the city and I’m about an hour plus out so it’s not a quick trip by any means. But when the fun ones come up, you go.
And this one was fun.
We went on a boat called Cloud 9 and it circled the harbor going around the Statue of Liberty. There were drinks (of course) food and even a guest host, Nick Viall from the Bachelor.
I have to admit that I don’t watch that show or have any idea who he is but I know a lot of people do so that was cool too.
But the real star here was the Smirnoff Red White and Berry Vodka. It was served up to us in all forms, shaken stirred, frozen, even in boozy popsicles – but this layered drink was my favorite.
There were photo ops all around too with Lady Liberty…Uncle Sam was floating around to but really – who cares.
And yes, we were supposed to dress festive in Red White and Blue so you know if there’s a theme to be had I’m in on that every time!
Definitely good time had by all, even making the trip into the city on a weeknight. It was totally worth the 8 AM wake up call for work the next morning.
If you guys try this Red White and Blue Mojito give me a shout and let me know, they are really a perfect drink for everyone! They are sweet but in a fresh berry type way so not too sugary sweet that you couldn’t have more than one.
Because trust me, you will want more than one!
2 1/2 ounces Smirnoff Red White and Berry Vodka
1/2 ounce Elderflower liquor
1 tablespoon chopped mint
Seltzer for topping
Apple slices and extra berries for garnish
Muddle the berries and add to a cocktail shaker with ice.
Add the vodka and Elderflower liquor and shake well.
Strain into a tall glass with ice then stir in the chopped mint.
Top the drink with seltzer, I used plain but you could use a berry flavor also.
Garnish with apple slice and berries and serve immediately.
