A 15-Minute Wonton Soup Recipe

There’s no shame in taking some help from the store when you’re trying to get dinner on the table. We do it ALL the time, in recipes like our Beefy Tomato Soup and these Slow Cooker Ribs, which use store bought barbecue sauce.

Interestingly enough, those recipes usually turn out to be our most popular ones, too. So hang on to your pots because this easy wonton soup is going to be on the table in just about 20 minutes!

How To Make Wonton Soup

The key to making this wonton soup recipe as fast as can be is to get your ingredients prepped ahead of time. You can buy shredded carrots at the store or grate them yourself. Chop up a few scallions and grab a bag of fresh baby spinach.

The spinach is optional, which is why we didn’t picture it here but we love the flavor (and nutrients) that it adds to this soup recipe.

Can You Make Wonton Soup Ahead Of Time?

Absolutely! This soup recipe is a great way to meal prep for the week or just get dinner ready to go when you have the time to do it. All you need to do is reheat the soup in the microwave or on the stove top!

These frozen chicken dumplings won’t soak up the broth like regular pasta in a soup can do. Another reason that this wonton soup is perfect for getting a meal done ahead of time.

What Else Can I Add To This Soup Recipe?

Pretty much any vegetable that you like. Traditionally wonton soup has very few vegetables, but feel free to amp up the veggies and use more! If you like your soup to have some crunch you can top it with fried wontons like we did in this Pork Egg Roll Soup recipe.

Some vegetable ideas to add to this soup include:

  • Zucchini
  • Peas
  • Broccoli
  • Cabbage
  • Corn
  • Cauliflower

Although we know those aren’t traditional wonton soup ingredients, if you need to clean out the fridge or get more veg into your diet, this soup is the way to do it!

How Long Do Leftovers Last?

Store leftover wonton soup in a container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. This wonton soup can also be frozen! The dumplings might get a little softer upon reheating but it doesn’t change the flavor of the soup at all.
