This Whisky Mule Recipe is a twist on the traditional Moscow Mule except it’s made with whisky! An easy cocktail recipe for enjoying at parties and happy hours.
A Whiskey Moscow Mule Recipe
Any time I can figure out how to make more drinks with whisky is OK in my book. George Dickel Superior No. 12 is one I like to break out often, its flavor has hints of maple and vanilla with a rich oak flavor that is perfect for mixing up cocktails.
There’s something about using traditional mule glasses that make your drink taste better, too. Your drink stays colder, and somehow you just feel cooler holding one in your hand.
These are easy to whip up too, just get some mint and a few pieces of lime in a muddler and smash them up together. You can do this in a muddler or right in the bottom of your glass. Pour in lots of whiskey and top of with ginger beer.
What Is Ginger Beer?
So a little thing i learned a while ago about ginger beer…it doesn’t have alcohol. It’s like soda really. Which is great and all, except we’re making cocktails here. Ginger beer is typically produced by naturally fermenting ginger spice, yeast and sugar.
But instead of a traditional ginger beer, I like to use a “hard” ginger beer to add some more punch to this whiskey mule.
Also I used big ice cubes instead of crushed ice. Why? Because I don’t like lots of crushed ice watering down my beverage.
The big cubes melt slower so there’s less water. You’ll definitely be done with this drink way before the ice ever melts.
