Whisky Kir Royal With A Twist!

Really any party that you’re having but since Mardis Gras is next week that might be the next one on your list.

We’re serving up tons of appetizers to go with the tons of cocktails like these Salt and Vinegar Wings and our Panini Pizza Sticks. To keep some authentic Mardis Gras food going we’re also going to be making a big batch of Dirty Rice and Jambalaya.

You’ve got to go all out with the food if you’re to serve lots of drinks, and you know we are serving lots of drinks.

Why Are We Adding Whiskey To This Kir Royal?

This Whisky Kir Royal is basically a classic Kir Royal cocktail with some Crown Royal XO whiskey added to it. Why? Well, because I love Crown Royal XO and to me it makes everything taste better.

Créme de Cassis is a liquor made from black currents but try and find fresh currents at your grocery store for garnish…let me know how you make out because I came up with nothing except a dried current.

So instead of me just sitting in a corner and drinking my XO all on it’s own, I made a cocktail. And a damn good cocktail it is, even if you’re not a champagne drinker, drink it for the whisky.

All you need to do is grab some decent champagne or prosecco, some créme de cassis and the Crown. If you have regular Crown Royal or another good whisky that’s ok too, but you’re going to love the way this taste with the XO.

I might have gotten a little spoiled on my Crown Royal weekend but that’s when it happened, and you’re only adding about a shot per glass so go ahead and splurge.

You can also set out a champagne station at your bar with all the liquors and booze that your friends might want to add and let them do it themselves, that way you don’t have to be the bartender all night.

But a word of warning – if you do make a do it yourself bar – you had better have a lot of XO on hand.
