A Boozy Apple Cocktail Perfect for Thanksgiving
We all say shots, but these Salted Caramel Apple Shots are really a cocktail. In a shot glass.
These are really more sipping shots, not the kind that you shoot down all at once. These whiskey shots are too delicious to not savor the flavor of!
The drink itself tastes like the booziest form of a bit of an apple, but then you’ve got this thick salted caramel rim going on…I’m telling you, these drinks are unbelievable.
If you are serving this shot recipe for a party, go ahead and rim the shot glasses ahead of time and then make up the drink in a pitcher or shaker. They don’t have to be icy cold when they are poured like a vodka shot, even chilled in the refrigerator and poured is fine.
Just wait for the crowd to go crazy when you bring this tray of shots out, also do make sure you have enough to go around!
Salted Caramel Apple Shots use caramel Baileys and apple whiskey. There’s plenty of varieties of apple whiskey or bourbon so you can grab your favorite kind at the liquor store.
The Caramel Baileys is so rich and creamy, it matches perfectly with a strong whiskey. These shots almost taste like a melted boozy milkshake, in the best way possible.
How Do You Keep Sliced Apples From Turning Brown?
Super easy- just a few squeezes of lemon juice and you’re good to go. Fresh lemon juice or even that bottled stuff, it’s really just the acid that we’re looking for to keep the apples from turning color, not the flavor.
So in this case, the bottled kind works totally fine! We keep bottled lemon juice in our refrigerator all the time for garnishing cocktails like these Salted Caramel Apple Shots.
For the caramel rim, we used a container of caramel dip for apples. You know the kind that they have in the produce section of your grocery store this time of year for dipping apple slices into.
If you can’t find that you can use any type of caramel syrup that’s on the thicker side so it doesn’t slide down the shot glass. You want a nice thick layer of caramel like we have here.
Now comes those awesome salt flakes. This is one of our favorite garnishes for cocktails or food, it’s Maldon all natural sea salt flakes and they are the best looking and best tasting sea salt to use for any type of food or drink garnish.

- 6 ounces apple whiskey
- 4 ounces Caramel Baileys
- Caramel sauce (for the rim)
- Sea salt (for the rim)
- Apple slices for garnish
- Rim 4 shot glasses by dipping the rims of the shot glasses in caramel sauce then sprinkling sea salt on the caramel.
- Add the whiskey and Baileys to a shaker or pitcher. Shake or stir to combine, then divide between 4 shot glasses.
- Add a slice of apple the each shot glass for garnish.
