A Cocktail To Cure A Hangover?

I’m not saying that I need all the hangover cures in the world…. Most of the time I get along just fine. Actually I’m usually the last one hanging in at a party to tell you the truth.

But there are nights that all of us indulge a little too much I guess, and that’s when a Horse’s Neck Cocktail comes into play. Maybe we didn’t eat a big enough meal ahead of time, maybe the drinks were too strong, or maybe the party was just that much fun.

Whatever the case might be – we all have our remedies for the next day. Greasy breakfast or sometimes the “Hair of the Dog that bit you”. I guess maybe if you’re heading off to work that second one won’t work. But if there’s an opportunity to have something else to help you through, this is the drink to do it with.

You don’t want sweet here, sweet things might put you over the edge. But you have bitters here (known to help with bad tummies) ginger and brandy. It’s the trifecta of perfect ingredients in a cocktail when you’re looking to sip away the pain.

Ingredients For A Horse’s Neck Cocktail

Brandy: Brandy is a liquor produced from distilling wine and it’s often served as an after dinner drink. For the same reasons that it’s know to settle your stomach after a large meal, it’s going to help you get over some of those hangover symptoms.

Bitters: Bitters is known to help settle the stomach. Add a few drops to this cocktail and you’ll be better in no time!

Ginger Ale: We all know that ginger ale helps to calm your stomach down, even from back when we were young.

Lemon Peel: A fresh citrus burst from a lemon peel will wake you right up!

But I do have to add that even if you’re in just fine shape, this Horse’s Neck cocktail is just plain good. You can switch up the brandy with bourbon or whiskey, whatever your preference is. It’s a nice, easy sipping drink that just tastes good.

And if it happens to help get you over the hump from a too many martinis the night before, well that there is just a bonus!
