Try this Spicy Pineapple Cilantro Margarita for a twist on a traditional margarita! This is one way to spice things up at happy hour!
What do you want to drink when you’re eating tacos on Taco Tuesday? Margaritas, of course.
My margarita of choice is definitely on the rocks and not frozen. Salt for me, no salt for Christie…and spicy for both of us if we can get it!
And now I know what you’re going to ask next, how do you make a margarita spicy? There’s a few different ways to do that, actually, but today we’re using hot sauce.
Don Victor® Hot Sauce to get specific. I love Don Victor® Green Piquin Hot Sauce for this margarita recipe because of its slightly mellow heat but also it’s huge flavor. The piquin pepper is a small pepper found in Northern Mexico and Don Victor® is the only hot sauce that is made entirely from this tiny pepper so the flavor is definitely unique.

OK – Now that you have the hot sauce…let’s get to making this Spicy Pineapple Cilantro Margarita!
This is such an easy recipe, you really are just going to add all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice…
Then go ahead and get that hot sauce in there!
I’m adding 1 teaspoon to mine and 2 to Christie’s. She likes it a little more spicy than I do and that right there is a great thing about using hot sauce to flavor your cocktails, you can add as little or as much as you like!
Strain into glasses rimmed with salt (or not!) and garnish with a pineapple wedge and more cilantro.
Nothing left to do but sit back, grab your tacos and enjoy!
- 1½ ounces gold tequila
- 1 teaspoon Don Victor® Green Piquin Hot Sauce
- ½ ounce triple sec
- 4 ounces pineapple juice
- squeeze of fresh lime wedge (about 1 teaspoon)
- 1 tablespoon cilantro, chopped
- Fresh cilantro, pineapple and lime for garnish
- Sea salt for rimming the glass (optional)
- Add the tequila, hot sauce, triple sec, pineapple and lime juice and cilantro to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake well and strain into a salt rimmed glass, if you prefer.
- Garnish with a pineapple wedge, lime wheel and more fresh cilantro.
