A Shot Recipe For Parties

These Dirty Martini Shots are really the same as a dirty martini recipe, just in a smaller size. The presentation is awesome for serving at parties – sometimes people don’t want the whole drink, they just want a little taste.

That’s when shot recipes like this really come in handy. Especially because you can make these vodka shots ahead of time and your guests can grab them as they want them. No need for you to be playing bartender all night!

Ingredients For A Dirty Martini

You can make these dirty martini shots with vodka or gin, depending on how you like your martini. Or you can set these shots out for a party and have a gin version and a vodka version, to see which one your friends like best!

  • Vodka or Gin: Use a good quality of either spirit. Since there aren’t too many ingredients in these shots (or martini recipe) you want them to all taste the best!
  • Olive Brine: I prefer using olive brine from an actual jar of olives. However, sometimes, you do run out. If you do, we like this brine that you can get on Amazon.
  • Water: Just a splash, it’s a good trick my dad taught me to smooth out the flavor of a martini. And it works.

You’ll need either a 3 or 4 ounce shot glass for these dirty martini shots, they are a little taller and make for a better presentation. Then just garnish with a toothpick and an olive and serve!

Vermouth Or No Vermouth?

Typically, a martini recipe calls for vermouth, but you won’t find any in our dirty martinis. It’s a personal preference, for sure. You can definitely add a splash of vermouth to these shots if you like the flavor! Vermouth is a fortified wine that has a botanical flavor. Besides adding a bit of flavor, it’s meant to smooth out the harshness of the alcohol.

This is where my dad’s secret for a splash of water comes in to play – it smooths out the drink without adding additional flavor. We like just the vodka and the olive brine. Clean and simple!

    I love this shot!
*add a splash of dry vermouth or sweet vermouth (or both for a perfect martini shot). I like to use a bigger shot glass when I add the extra ingredients.
