This Rum and Coke Spiral Ham brings the fun to your holiday dinner! A sweet coke glaze spiked with a touch of rum coats every slices of this delicious spiral ham!

Scale

Ingredients

  • 68 lb. spiral sliced ham (can be larger, see note)
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans of Coca-Cola® (we like regular, full sugar Coke for this recipe)
  • 1/2 cup dark rum
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. Add the ham to a 6-8 quart slow cooker (depending on the size of your ham) We like to add it flat side down so that the slices stay in tact. Pour 1 can of Coke over the ham.
  2. Cover the slow cooker and set on high for 3 hours or on low for 6 hours. We made this recipe with a 6 pound ham and it was done in 2 1/2 hours. The cooking time will depend on the size of your ham, see note.
  3. In the last hour of cooking time, make the glaze by adding 1 cup of Coke to a medium size pot. Pour in the rum and then whisk in the brown sugar and mustard. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes. The glaze should reduce by half and be thick and syrupy.
  4. During the last 30 minutes of cooking time (at the 2 1/2 hour mark), pour the glaze over the top of the ham, making sure to cover all of the ham. Cook for the remaining 30 minutes, remove the ham from the slow cooker and serve.

Recipe Notes

What you’re really doing here is warming up a ham, since most hams are already pre-cooked. A smaller, 4-5 pound ham should only take about 2 hours on high to warm through. A larger 6-8 pounds ham will take 3-4 hours to warm through. Halfway through cooking, check the internal temperature of the ham should be 140 degrees. OR just make sure it’s hot in the center.

If you have a very large spiral ham, you can double the ingredients (or triple) for the glaze and cook for 8 hours on low or 5 hours on high.

The servings size listed is for a 6 pound ham.
