These crispy, Breaded Shrimp are always a hit for appetizers or dinner! Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and french fries on the side!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound medium sized shrimp, peeled and deveined with tails on
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning (plus more for dusting after shrimp are fried)
  • 3/4 seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Canola oil of vegetable oil for frying
  • Kosher salt for seasoning the shrimp after frying
  • Lemon wedges for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the shrimp with the Old Bay and toss to coat.
  2. Set up a breading station with the flour in one bowl, the eggs in another bowl and the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  3. Dip the shrimp into the flour first, tapping off the excess, then into the eggs, letting the excess drip off and finally into the breadcrumbs. Press the breadcrumbs onto the shrimp to make sure that you have an even coating. Repeat with the remaining shrimp.
  4. Add the oil to a heavy bottomed pot, only filling about halfway full. Heat the oil until it reaches approximately 375-400 degrees. If you don’t have a thermometer, sprinkle a few breadcrumbs into the oil, if they sizzle up quickly, then the oil is ready.
  5. Carefully add the shrimp to the oil a few at a time, depending on how big the pot is that you’re using. Don’t add too many shrimp at once or it will cause the temperature of the oil to drop too low.
  6. Fry the shrimp for 2-3 minutes until they are golden brown. Remove to a paper towel lined plate and immediately season with salt. Repeat with the remaining shrimp. You can transfer the fried shrimp to a low oven to keep warm until the shrimp are all fried and ready to go.
  7. Serve with lemon wedges and your favorite dipping sauce. We love using a Yum Yum Sauce or a classic Remoulade Sauce!

Recipe Notes

Store: Store leftover shrimp in a container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheat: Reheat breaded shrimp in a 350 degree oven until warm. Alternately, and air fryer crisps these shrimp up wonderfully!

Freeze: After the shrimp have cooled down completely, add to a freezer bag in a single layer. Freeze for an hour until the shrimp are firm and then store as you wish in your freezer for up to 3 months. Reheat shrimp from frozen in the oven or air fryer until warmed through.
