We’ll show you how to make a rotisserie chicken right in your air fryer! Super crispy skin with juicy and tender chicken. Perfect for easy dinners and meal prepping!
Ingredients
- 3–3 1/2 pound whole chicken, make sure to remove the giblets (see note)
- 3 tablespoons All Purpose Seasoning
- Olive oil or non-stick cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 380 degrees if needed. You’ll need a 6 quart air fryer to make a larger chicken, but at least a 5 quart air fryer for a smaller chicken.
- Tie the wings and legs together with kitchen twine. Drizzle the chicken with olive oil and rub all over the chicken. Sprinkle on the seasoning and rub into the chicken on all sides.
- Spray basket of the air fryer with non-stick cooking spray. Place the chicken in the air fryer breast side down and cook for 30 minutes.
- Turn the chicken breast side up and cook another 20-25 minutes until the chicken registers 165 degrees on a meat thermometer. The cooking time will depend on the size of your chicken.
- Transfer the chicken to a board and let rest for 10 minutes before carving.
Recipe Notes
A larger chicken can take up to 70 minutes. We have found that a typical air fryer will hold up to a 4 1/2 pound chicken at the maximum, so make sure when you’re buying your chicken that it will fit in your air fryer.
Store: Store leftover chicken tightly wrapped in the refrigerator, or in an air tight container for up to 4 days.
Reheat: You can certainly eat the chicken cold, but if you’d like it warm you can reheat it in a low oven at 325 degrees until warm or in the microwave just until warmed through.
