Pasta Pomodoro is a simple tomato sauce tossed with al dente spaghetti garnished with fresh basil and nutty parmesan cheese.
Sauté the onions in a large pot or dutch oven until they are brown and carmelized.
Add in the fresh garlic and continue cooking for 1 minute longer.
Puree whole San Marzano tomatoes, add to the pan and simmer. Then add in butter, parmesan cheese, and fresh basil. Remove from heat.
Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and combine.
Garnish the spaghetti with more fresh basil and parmesan cheese, and dig in!
