A tasty tequila shot made with fresh watermelon that’s perfect for serving at parties! Learn how to cut a watermelon into these fun sticks!

Ingredients

Scale
  • For this recipe you’ll need 1 medium sized watermelon, half for “sticks” and the other half for cubes.
  • 1/2 cup white (blanco) tequila
  • 1/4 cup triple sec
  • 2 limes, juiced
  • seltzer for topping
  • (6) 4 ounce shot glasses
  • Sugar for rimming the glasses

Instructions

  1. Cut the watermelon on half lengthwise as show in the picture above. Cut into 1 inch strips one direction, then back across in the other direction to make sticks. Cut the other half of the watermelon into cubes to be used for the juice.
  2. For each batch of 6 shooters, add 2 cups of cubed watermelon to a blender and blend until liquified. Pour the juice through a fine strainer into a pitcher or a large measuring bowl with a spout for pouring.
  3. Add the tequila, triple sec and lime juice to the bowl with the watermelon juice and stir.
  4. Rim the shot glasses by slightly wetting along the rims and the coating in sugar.
  5. Pour the watermelon cocktail into each shot glass (about 1/2 full) then insert one watermelon stick into each glass.
  6. Top with a splash of seltzer and serve.
