Our house salad recipe that we make almost every night! It’s so simple, you don’t even need to make the dressing separately, it just mixes all in the bowl. We don’t even measure these ingredients, anymore just a drizzle or two over the lettuce, a sprinkle of the seasonings, toss and enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups lettuce of your choice (any type of lettuce you enjoy eating)
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (good balsamic vinegar, not balsamic glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste (don’t skimp on the salt, you often need more than you think for a salad)

Instructions

  1. Add the lettuce to a bowl. Pour in the balsamic vinegar and olive oil, then add the oregano, garlic powder and salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Use a fork and knife to cut the lettuce up while mixing until the lettuce is all coated well. Taste a piece of lettuce to see if it’s seasoned right for you and adjust if needed.
  3. Add salad toppings of your choice and serve.

Recipe Notes

We recommend that you enjoy this salad when you make it. The lettuce will wilt after the salad is dressed.

This recipe can be used to make 1 bowl of salad or a large bowl of salad for serving a crowd. Just double or triple the amounts here or use our method of drizzling and sprinkling until it tastes right to you!
