Beer Cheese Sloppy Joes are the sandwich of your dreams! Made with seasoned beef and a rich cheese sauce, this comfort food recipe is perfect for weeknights, tailgates and game day parties.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Black pepper to taste (can also try a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes for a bit of heat!)
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 3/4 cup beer cheese (plus more for serving)
- Hamburger buns for serving
Instructions
- Add the oil to a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onions and ground beef, breaking up the beef into crumbles as it cooks. When the beef is cooked through, drain any drippings from the pan.
- Add the tomato paste, brown sugar, salt, garlic powder, paprika, pepper, Worcestershire sauce and beef broth to the pan and stir to combine. Simmer over low heat for 5 minutes to combine the flavors.
- Add the beer cheese to the skillet and stir until melted and combined with the beef mixture. (You can make the beer cheese ahead of time if you like, even if it’s refrigerated it’ll melt into the beef very easily).
- Taste for seasonings and serve on hamburger buns.
Recipe Notes
Store: Store leftovers in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to four days.
Reheat: Reheat leftovers in the microwave until just warmed through. If you overheat the meat, the cheese sauce can tend to break, causing it to become greasy.
