Either beef tips or stew meat will work. Beef tips are typically a more tender cut of meat, while stew meat requires more time in the slow cooker to become tender.
You'll only need 4 pounds of beef tips or stew meat, and a few other ingredients to make this easy recipe. Let's get started!
Season the beef tips with salt, pepper and garlic powder and then dredge the in flour, tapping off the excess.
Add olive oil to a large skillet and sear the beef for a couple of minutes until browned on both sides.
Add the seared beef with juices, beef broth whisked with a brown gravy packet and a pack of dry onion soup mix to the slow cooker along with a bay leaf. Then cook.
Serve over mashed potatoes, egg noodles or creamy polenta. Enjoy!
