This Mexico Meets Milan Tequila Cocktail is for tequila purists.

When I was younger, tequila meant shots at the bar with lime and salt. As I’m sure it did for a lot of you guys, too. Or a margarita on taco night, or the famous sweet drink – the tequila sunrise.

Those are all good drinks, don’t get me wrong. There’s definitely a time and a place for all tequila based cocktails. And as you all know I do love a good shot recipe, we make them all the time…

But as I’ve gotten a little older, I’m more into high quality tequila that can be sipped slowly at dinner or after dinner or just over snacks with friends, and this Mexico Meets Milan Tequila Cocktail fits that bill perfectly.

As with all recipes that only have a few ingredients, you’ve got to make sure that the ingredients you use are top notch. For this cocktail I’m using Gran Centenario Añjeo Tequila and Fernet Branco Amaro. Amaro is similar to bitters, but is an Italian herbal liquor. Sometimes drunk after dinner as an digestif – a way to help settle your stomach. This is a new liquor to me, but I’m starting to really dive into it. There’s so many flavors and varieties…the cocktail possibilities are endless.

Pair that with a good añejo tequila and a blood orange peel and you’ll wonder why you’ve never tried tequila like this before.

I found this cocktail on Hard Rock Rockisino site, so definitely head over there and check it out too. If I’m ever looking for a road trip, I’m going to add this destination to my list. It’s like a Hard Rock times ten – full of gaming, live music and all the other classic Hard Rock memorabilia that we all love.

Not to mention the cocktails and food.

SO as far as making this drink…there’s not much to it besides what I’ve already told you. But this picture will show you all you need to know.
Mexico Meets Milan: The Ultimate Two-Ingredient Tequila Cocktail

One of the other key factors to this drink is the ice. Try and get a mold that makes those big, 2 inch cubes because they make a big difference. The ice melts really slow so it chills your tequila without watering it down.

Then grab a big blood orange a peel of your garnish. The oils from the orange peel add just the right finish to this Mexico Meets Milan Tequila Cocktail.

All you need now is to decide what you’re going to eat!

Mexico Meets Milan Tequila Cocktail is perfect for sipping after dinner!
