Hudson Whiskey Review

Our Hudson Whiskey Review for your viewing pleasure! We took a drive out to this distillery many years ago and can’t wait for a return trip!

Hudson Whiskey bottle

I’ve had a few people ask me some technical questions about Hudson Whiskey -about the “notes” and some more sophisticated descriptions besides my “it tastes great!” comments. So I looked up a review from the Bourbon Blog, for your browsing pleasure. I guess it is sort of fun to look at a professional review and then go ahead and drink some more bourbon to see if you can pick out any of the “notes” or flavors. I personally didn’t get any toasted marshmallow from a campfire, but let me know if you did!

Bourbon: Hudson Four Grain Bourbon Whiskey

Distillery: Tuthilltown Spirits, Gardiner, New York
Proof: 46% ABV;  92 proof
Age: Unlisted
Notes: Hudson Four Grain bourbon whiskey brings together the distinct characteristics of corn, rye, wheat and malted barley. Each batch starts with 800 pounds of grain which is ground at the distillery, cooked and fermented, then distilled twice. It is aged in Tuthilltown’s signature small barrels. Each bottle is hand numbered, this bottle is Year 10, Batch 3, Bottle 639.
Color: Medium amber
Nose:
Sweet corn and lightly spicey with a touch of raspberry.
Taste: Each of the four grains plays its own spectacular note and leaves a symphony of flavors. Smooth and sweet corn give a soft mouthfeel on the front end of the taste. A spicey note second and I can feel it on the front to mid tongue. The wheat and malted barley add some harmony and serve as strong background instruments to round out the flavor. Smooth mouthfeel. Some earthy berries and hints of berry as in the nose. As always, this Bourbon has a delicious signature Tuthilltown Spirits character which can only be described as, “That is Tuthilltown!”
Finish: Somewhat “juicy” in texture. Soft hints of marshmallow to lightly toasted marshmallows from a campfire. – See more at: http://www.bourbonblog.com/blog/2010/06/27/hudson-four-grain-bourbon-whiskey-review/#sthash.Y2ySRVhs.dpuf
